Dr. Jasmin Smajic receives IEEE PES “Outstanding Engineer Award"

Dr. Jasmin Smajic, Co-Head of the Institute of Electromagnetic Fields, receives the IEEE "Outstanding Engineer Award" of the Power and Energy Society (PES) Chapter in 2021.

Ben Bowler, Chair of the PES Chapter of IEEE Switzerland, hands over the "Outstanding Engineer Award" to Dr. Jasmin Smajic, Co-Head of the Institute of Electromagnetic Fields.

Dr. Jasmin Smajic was honoured for "his considerable contribution to power engineering at theoretical level developing numerical methods for electromagnetic field simulations of power devices as well as at practical level developing new technologies for the industry".

He has a long and prolific career in academia and the private sector, working for ABB Corporate Research, HSR in Rapperswil, and ETH Zurich. Dr. Smajic is the author of numerous publications and patents, applying a deep fundamental understanding of electromagnetic field theory and expertise in numerical simulation methods to come up with innovative solutions to real engineering problems.
