Apple acquires spin-off company Faceshift

As confirmed last week, Apple acquired the Zurich-based ETH spin-off Faceshift. Thibaut Weise, CEO of Faceshift, developed the facial tracking technology during his time as a researcher at the Computer Vision Laboratory.

Faceshift offers the possibility to capture human facial expressions in real time in order to create e.g. animated avatars. The technology has already been used in the latest Star Wars movie.
