New ETH honorary doctor Prof. Nick McKeown as a special guest at D-ITET

D-ITET is delighted to present Nick McKeown as a new honorary doctor of ETH Zurich. The professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Stanford University is best known for his groundbreaking work in the area of computer networks, especially for his contributions to the architecture of Internet-routers and "Software-Defined Networking".

Nick McKeown was awarded an honorary doctorate by ETH, the highest honour of academic excellence, as part of the ETH Day 2014. In his laudation, Head of D-ITET Prof. Bernhard Plattner mentioned especially Nick McKeown’s achievements around "Software Defined Networking" (SDN). SDN is a new approach, which has the potential to revolutionize the architecture, realization and the operation of the Internet.

We were also proud to welcome Nick McKeown as a special guest at D-ITET. In his lecture on "Software-Defined Networks and the Maturing of the Internet", he gave valuable insights into the field and the latest developments in networks, especially the Internet.
