Marco Eppenberger wins Hans Eggenberger Award
Marco Eppenberger, MScEEIT ETH, won the 2016 Hans Eggenberger Award for his Master thesis "FPGA-based Coherent Receivers for Optical Communication Systems Beyond 100G".

Marco Eppenberger wrote his thesis at the Institute for Electromagnetic Fields of Prof. Juerg Leuthold. In his work he showed how energy can be saved by a factor of ten in signal processing of optical receivers. The results are so convincing that two new industry collaborations could be established for the lab.
