Power Electronic Systems Lab (PES) in the finals of GOOGLE Little Box Challenge

The Power Electronics Systems Laboratory lead by Prof. Johann Kolar has made it into the finals of the Little Box Challenge together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration (Team of Prof. Hoene) and Fraza (F. Zajc). More than 650 teams worldwide participated in the competition, initiated by GOOGLE and IEEE, for the construction of the smallest 2kW solar inverter. The winner will receive one million US dollars.

From a total of 100 submissions 18 finalists were selected, who compete against each other at the finals in Golden, Colorado (USA) on 21 October 2015. Prof. Kolar regards the submitted project, an inverter system at the limit of today’s technological possibilities, as a first step towards a new dimension of compactness in power electronic converters.

D-ITET wishes the team lots of success!
